What's a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the World Wide Web. With your company's online image at stake, you should make sure your domain name includes your company name (www.yourbusiness.com ). Then, your e-mail addresses will also be specific to your company's domain name. The domain name is very much the store-front for the on-line portion of a business today.


What is an Add-on Domain?
An add-on domain means having a secondary domain name parked on a sub-directory of your hosting account that operates as if it was its own hosting account to most visitors of your site, but only as long as you build links to and within your site that use that add-on domain name. You can setup email addresses using add-on and parked domain names within your hosting control panel. The Value Deluxe packages do not come with add-on domains.


How do I transfer my site to Lifetime-WebHosting.com?

Step 1: Sign up with us as a new account.

Step 2: Then perform a domain name transfer request at your registrar company (usually on-line), the company that you initially registered your domain name through. Use our name servers (DNS) at your domain registrar to "transfer" your domain name. Transferring the domain is basically just pointing your domain name at our servers using DNS settings at your domain registrar of choice. If you don't have a domain name registrar that you prefer, we recommend NameCheap.com. The domain name servers you should point to are available to you after sign-up in our turn-up email.

Step 3: Transfer your content via FTP to our servers and test your site on our server.


How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Once your domain registrar confirms that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), and you have entered our DNS server information at the registrar, it usually takes about 24-72-hours before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location. Since not all internet providers update DNS tables on a daily basis this process could take longer than 3 days in some rare or remote situations.


Do you handle the domain registration process?

Yes. And No. We can assist you and register .com, .net, .org, .biz, or .info domains at sign-up. Other top level domains are available such as .center, .nyc, .builder, etc but cost more per year to register. If you wish to have us handle the registration please sign up for it at the time of ordering. After the fact or to transfer the domain name so we handle it for you, please contact us for more information.>/p>


How long does it take to set up my account?

Your account will be set up within 48 hours or less during regular business days (M-F). Most accounts are set-up with 24 hours. Once an account is set-up an activation notice will be sent to you via e-mail including your username, password, DNS servers to use, and any other details that may be important.


Do you use SSL technology?

yes. We offer free shared SSL that is available to your website. Your turn-up email will have the details on how to link to a secure portion of your website. A secure portion is only secure during teh transmission of the data (your site pages and images) if it is called from the browser using https:// in the URL bar. If all items are securely called, you will see a lock icon in the browser bar indicating the site is secure. If you forget to link an image or other item insecurely, the lock will not appear in the browser bar for your site.


Can I access my web site with or without the "www"?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name.


What is the server type: NT? UNIX? Both?

We use a version of Linux that is stable and currently maintained & updated regularly. Linux powers most of the servers on the internet today.


What is an email alias?

An e-mail alias means if you send mail to a different email such as someone@gmail.biz using an email at your site such as email@yourdomain.com. That address is aliased to whomever needs to receive it.


What do autoresponders do?

An autoresponder is similar to an email alias that routes to another email address on your account or at another email services such as @yahoo.com, but it also will send an automatic reply back to the sender. We no longer recommend the use of these types of email services and no longer offer then in our hosting accounts due to spam complaints.


What programs can be used to access e-mail?

Any POP3 client (program) can be used -- which is any program which downloads the files from our server onto your computer such as MS Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc. The hosting account also supports IMAP services where the email stays on your hosting account and is accessible via 3 web interfaces that you can access directly or via your hosting control panel. Between POP3 and IMAP, you can even use your mobile phone or tablet to read your email.


Do you have a database system?

We offer mySQL databases on our accounts. Each account has a number allocated to it by the package type. If you need more, you may ask or purchase additional databases.


Do you have Anon. FTP access?

No, as it is considered unsecure, but we provide account based FTP access in each plan with "unlimited" number of FTP accounts.


Do you have a limit on the FTP transfer?

No. There is no limit as an itemized FTP process, but it is figured into your bandwidth (data transfer) totals for the month.


How do I transfer files to my web site?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) using an FTP client such as filezilla or similar programs All accounts also come with an on-line file manager to upload, rename, delete, and edit files on-line via your hosting account control panel.


Can I Upgrade my Existing Lifetime-WebHosting Package?

Yes. Create a support ticket, indicate your old package and username and/or domain name and ask for an upgrade promo code. Once issued, the promo code is good for 25% off the package price you wish to upgrade to. Once payment is received, we will upgrade your account within 48 hours on normal business days (M-F).
